The European Commission is part of the executive body of the European Union (EU). It operates as a cabinet government, consisting of 27 members of the Commission, led by a President. Established in 1958, the Commission helps shape the EU's overall strategy, proposes new EU laws and policies, monitors their implementation and manages the EU budget.
